1967 Corvette Coupe – 24,000 Original Miles
A little over two years ago, a Craigslist seller was asking $65,000 for this last-year C2, which may not have been too far out of line if this car was actually in the condition portrayed in the ad. These days, you can barely buy a driver-quality late C2 for less than 55 to 60 thousand dollars. The only bothersome thing was the repaint to a different, albeit factory, 1967 Corvette color. How much would this affect the value and pricing of this car going forward?
Originally Marlboro Maroon, it was repainted to Marina Blue, one of the most popular Corvette colors ever. Claimed to be matching-numbers, with a 327 / 350 engine and 4-speed, it reportedly had traveled just over 24,000 original miles. It was equipped with power disc brakes and factory turbine-style wheels. It looked immaculate inside and out, and the seller stated in the ad that it “drives like new.”
The undercarriage showed very well, and either the car was only driven in dry weather, or it was restored. The engine bay was also extremely tidy. The whole car looked original and unmolested, and the black interior had either been well cared for or refurbished.
If this C2 was as good as the listing claimed, I wonder what the value would be in the current Corvette market.
