1996 43k Mile 6-Speed Coupe – Reserve Not Met at $9921

Hagerty valuation

It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago this 43k mile 6-speed coupe was only bid up to $9921.00 and failed to meet the reserve price. Values for C4s haven’t risen today as much as other models but it still seems like it would sell for quite a bit more than that final bid in today’s inflated automobile market. This final-year Arctic White C4 had new tires, and new oxygen sensors had also been installed.

Located in Tampa, it had recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clear title. It appeared to be completely stock, which is becoming increasingly rare for these 20+ year old cars.

It’s also getting difficult to find one with the excellent ZF 6-speed manual transmission which automatically upgraded engines in the 1996 model year from the 300hp LT1 to the 330hp LT4.

The light gray leather interior showed only a little wear on the driver seat bolster, but that should have been expected on a ’96 model. Overall, the inside looked immaculate.

It certainly wasn’t museum-quality – there were a few dings and scratches in the paint, but most of these blemishes could have been corrected.

The auction reserve for this car was probably set somewhere around $10k-$11k. The late C4s continue to provide the best bang for the buck of all the Corvette generations. With the transparent targa roof, this seemed like a nice driver for not much money. The original auction listing is located at https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-chevrolet-corvette-21/
