Throwback (Dec. 2019): ’73 Big Block 4-Speed Coupe
A little over two years ago, bidding ended at $19,300. on this beauty and it didn’t reach the reserve price set by the seller. It was available in Lakeland, Florida, and it looked very nice.
I think this unusual factory color was called Ontario Orange and it really popped against the beige interior. The Rallye wheels always look great with vintage white-letter tires.
The 68,532 mile car featured power steering and brakes, and a tilt steering wheel. The interior showed almost no wear and looked to be original.
There’s lot to like about this original 454 LS4 big block matching-numbers engine backed by a four speed tranny. The under-hood area was unbelievably clean and looked fairly original.
The seller claimed that only 4412 ’73 Corvettes were produced with the 454 engine and that only 3704 of these were manufactured with the four speed manual transmission.
This looked to me like a very desirable car and I think in the current highly-inflated auto market it would fetch way over $20,000. With the chrome rear bumpers still in place from the earlier C3s, this could be considered a one-year-only model. How much do you think this car would sell for in 2022?
